One Year has past

The 3rd of January is Top Enders birthday, but this year when she turned five my Gran died. Now this day has two events linked to it with conflicting emotions.

I decided that Top Enders Birthday can be a day that we remember my Gran but not her death, after all it was Top Enders day first and so should be a happy day. We will remember all the fun times that we had with my Gran and all the silly and wonderful times that we had with her but today, the day that she was admitted to Hospital after collapsing in her home is the day that we can remember that she isn't with us anymore.

Dear Maw,

One year has past since you went to hospital and I still think about you everyday, I try calling you every once in a while and realise before the phone connects through that you can't answer anymore. I don't drive past where you use to live because it is too painful to think that I can't visit you anymore.

It makes me so sad to know that you are gone and that I can't hear you anymore, but I know that now you are healed and suffer no pain. I know that you are with those we both love who have gone before us and I know that you watch over me now.

Baby Boy has learnt to walk and is so loving towards everyone around him. He reminds me a lot of you, he has your laugh. Top Ender has lost her first tooth and she thinks of you often and remembers all the good times.

I hated seeing you in the hospital and I know that you knew what was happening. Thank you for holding Baby Boy so tight when he said Goodbye and for looking at Top Ender so lovingly. I hope that all the words I couldn't say were said when I held your hand.

Don't feel sad that you aren't with us because you are. You are in our hearts and always will be.

Love

Pippa xx

A small request

Baby Boy with MIL and S-FIL

I'm not doing a wordless wednesday post today (could you tell?!) instead I wanted to ask you all a favour.

When I met 'Daddy' many years ago, one of the first things that I learnt about the woman who would become my Mother-in-law was she was getting married for the second time. Her soon to be husband seemed to be a lovely man and it turned out that we actually had a couple of distant friends in common.

Over the next few years as I got to know him I discovered that not only is he incredibly intelligent, has a great talent for painting, a very dry sense of humour and a huge love for my little family but that he has the most wonderful faith. It was this faith that got him through a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, and he has suffered through treatments and blood transfusions with a brave face.

He has been in hospital for several weeks now and today he had an MRI scan which identified several lumps in his neck and face. At the moment the biopsies of these haven't come back and so all we can do is hope and pray.

And this leads me to the favour I would like to ask. Can you please add him and his wife to your prayers? He is currently in Intensive Care and is very weak and I know that they would appreciate it. I know that I would appreciate it.

Thank you

Top Ender Giggles - Accident on purpose?

Cake Decorated to look like a carved pumpkin
The other day, my Mum had an accident and ended up having to go to hospital for stitches in her face. My Sister took her and described the gory details to me on the telephone the next day. That night as Top Ender and I were walking down to her Swimming lesson I was regaling her with the story.

"And the hole is so big, they can't put stitches in!" I said
"And is it still bleeding?" asked Top Ender
"Well, no they stopped the bleeding" I said
"Can you see the hole now?" she asked
"Yes... well I imagine they have put a special plaster bandage type thing on it now" I said

There was a pause as Top Ender processed what I had told her.

"Is that what she is going to wear for Halloween?" asked Top Ender
"What?" I asked thinking I had missed something
"Is she going to wear it for Halloween?!" repeated Top Ender impatiently
"Well it won't be healed by then, so I guess she will have it on" I said
"Cool costume then" stated Top Ender "Do you think she did it on purpose?!"
"I think that would be a bit extreme Top Ender" I answered, suddenly wondering if maybe she did do it to get the best costume award at our party

Top Ender Giggles - Its called a waiting room so that we can wait!

"Top Ender?" called the Eye Doctor lady
"That's us." answered Daddy
"That was quick" I muttered
"ME? Can't you call someone else? I haven't even got a chance to play with the toys yet!" declared Top Ender

Top Ender Giggles - At least she didn't get out any vinegar and brown paper!

Yesterday we received a telephone call telling us that Granny had collapsed in Asda, and was being taken to the nearest hospital. Being well versed in Granny going to Hospital Top Ender started to get a Toy bag ready whilst I started getting a food bag ready.

When we got there Top Ender started colouring in a picture for Granny to make her feel better. It was then that we were told that Granny had been taken to hospital as she had banged her head when she had collapsed and this was why she had been brought in to the hospital.

Top Ender then presented Granny with her completed picture - a scene from Jack and Jill, with the statement underneath "And Jack fell down and broke his crown"

Who says that children don't do sarcasm?
